According to the media in Hong Kong, Myolie Wu, Linda Chung and others attended a promotional event yesterday for the new TVB drama "House of Harmony and Vengeance" whilst dressed up in their ancient drama costumes. Myolie laughingly said that she had "substance" (i.e. a decent chest size), and Linda Chung also did not admit defeat and also teasingly said that her chest size is the same as Myolie's.

This drama is set in the Tang dynasty. On the day of the event, Myolie and Linda both appeared to be less revealing in their ancient drama costumes than on the posters. In response to this, Myolie replied that there are many other actresses whose costumes are a lot more revealing than hers. She said, "You all know that I have "substance"! But I didn't want to trouble the costume department and ask them to lower the neck line of my costume!"

Linda Chung laughingly commented that originally, she wanted to be as sexy as the female characters in "The Curse of the Golden Flower", but she was worried that Bobby Au Yeung might have a nose bleed. She said, "There is a scene in the drama where Myolie has to lie on my chest. I used a lot of time and effort to make it seem as though my chest size was really amazing! When asked whose chest size is bigger, Linda replied, "The same size!"

On a separate note, regarding the recent news about Kevin Cheng's poor attitude during filming and showing a '"black face", Myolie Wu fully supported Kevin. She said, "It's because his skin colour is dark! He is very serious about his working. Back in the days when I had to practise dance routines with him, he didn't smile for a whole 3 months, so this incident may just be a misunderstanding."

Linda attended a jewelry function today (26^th April) after recently returning to Hong Kong from Canada. Linda revealed that she celebrated her birthday with her family and friends in Canada. Reporters ask if her friends around have already gotten married, and she replied saying, “Many of them are already married, some of them are even considering having their second child, but of course there are some who are still single.”

Reporters ask if her family is rushing her to get married, and Linda said, “My mum does not rush me actually, but it is my friends who are rushing me instead, asking me to get married quickly, recalling times during my secondary school days where we would guess who would be the first to get married. At that time, they guess that I would be the one who will get married first, as I was rather soft spoken and they considered me to be the most dependent and reliant one. But now I’m not sure if I’ll be the last one *cries*”.

Reporters question again if she ever thought about getting married with Phillip Ng, she said, “This rumour has been spread for many years, and has been said for so many times, so I don’t have anything special to respond this time. I guess it’s because Daddy Good Deeds was airing, and thus a wide range of news will surface during that time. However, after I’ve been in this industry I’ve learnt to accept this sort of news. Reporters continue to discuss Phillip Ng, asking “so what is the relationship between the both of you now?” Linda says that “It is still a peaceful relationship. As for our relationship in our private lives I don’t wish to respond too much about it, as it is not important. I believe that in relationships between me and my friends or my family, it is ok that only both parties understand.”

Back then when Raymond Lam and I were rumored, every newspaper/magazine said the same thing and said we really matched. It was rumored so severely that it felt like [everyone] wanted to force us to be together. Even I had a moment, a thought that flashed through my mind, can I really think about dating Raymond? I really did have that one quick moment of thought! Perhaps its because of filming, I was influenced by Raymond's character, but that was just a moment of thought, it just flashed by! Because I can quickly tell if I have the feeling or not. Why won't it work? I really don't know! Dating is about the feeling, I didn't have feel, how can we date?

A Slow Starter!

Although I did have a thought of dating [Raymond] flash through my mind, but I never told Raymond about this thought. Although I love to talk, but I'm a slow starter, especially back then when I was shooting series. I only had one or two words with everyone. It was just in the recent few years that I started keeping in touch with people. Even if Steven Ma and I collaborated in 4 series together, it was later on that we started chatting more, so how can I tell Raymond? However, I definitely don't have a crush on Raymond, please don't misunderstand. Raymond and I are just colleagues and friends, haha! I understand audience like to see the main actor and actress be together in real life, just like how I really wanted Ekin Cheng and Nnadia Chan to be together back when I watched dramas!

When I turned 25 years old, I already thought "Oh no! I turned into a middle-aged woman! I don't like people calling me middle-aged!" Although this year I'm 28, I am not afraid of being a 'sing lui'! I really want to have my own family too, sometimes my parents tell me to stop focusing so much on work, they would rush me. They tell me to think about myself, get marry and start a family. Even if I'm rumored with Raymond and Philip, my parents won't ask me about the rumors because they clearly know what I'm thinking. I chat with my parents daily, why wouldn't they know if the news are true or false? I know dating is about feelings, but I can't let a moment of thought blind me. Although my parents are anxious and hurried, but they still tell me to be careful.

I'm a strange person. I must be friends with the person for a few years before I consider dating them. Once I start dating, I think about marriage. However, how many guys would want to first be friends with me for two years? But, you cannot rush fate nor will I change my personality. Ten years from now, I really hope I won't have to work in this industry and change to something else. Aside from having a good husband and two babies, I hope my family lives in the house next to me, so we can look after each other! The most important is good health, still looking pretty on the inside and outside, haha! It's not that I don't have interest in this industry, but marriage and starting a family is just another stage in life. People will have to get through different stages in life to grow and improve.

[16/04/2012] Filming Crying Drama, Scared Will Be Like Sammi Cheng, Linda Chung Returns To Canada To Charge

2002, only 18 years old Linda Chung elected "Miss Chinese in Vancouver" Champion, following year to participate in the "Miss Chinese International in Hong Kong". And then three type of champion to join the entertainment industry. With the pure image, Linda constantly has had the opportunity to have a role to act. 2006 won the "Most Improved Female Artistes Award" highly touted.

2007, Linda with the drama "Heart of Greed - 溏心風暴" who acted as「常在心」character, 「crybaby 喊包」image was popular, back again with the "Moonlight Resonance - 家好月圓" who acted as「于素心」and last year's "Yes Sir, Sorry Sir - 點解阿Sir係阿Sir", made 'crybaby' image accepted by the public, even more it made "Yes Sir, Sorry Sir" drama become a hot candidate for "Best Actress".

Linda cry collapsed the whole city and successfully moved the audience. Supposed to make their own physical or mental harm, have been under pressure, she was suspected to be like Sammi Cheng who was suffering from depression. So to maintain herself, recently she decided to return home in Canada, rest for two months to fully re-charge.

Recently in her drama "Daddy Good Deeds - 當旺爸爸" Linda acts as a policewoman role for the first time, originally didn't love an action role herself, actually shouted filmed happily and relax. Also it's her to enter the industry for seven years, the second drama while shooting the edning, she cried as she didn't want to finish. One reason is that in the drama who plays my father 夏雨 Ha Yu, we had real father-daughter relationship.

Filming like real father-daughter relationship

During filming, every day when Ha Yu finishes he would personally drive his car and take Linda home. Which made her felt "family" warmth. "Usually when we're in the car we talk a lot of things, til the end of the last day we went quiet. I originally wanted to say: "Thanks dad for driving me everyday, in my heart I am really warm." I finally didn't say it, only said that this is your last day for driving me, he then said: Don't be silly! How is this the last time! I see him wait till I walk in the house then he goes. I immediatly thought back when I first joined the industry, dad always come and look for me, I send him to the airport those scenes. So when I returned home I immedialty cried! Really didn't want it to end. Filmed so many drama's, the first drama "Virtues of Harmony II - 皆大歡喜" will only didn't want to finish!"

Linda frankly glad that this drama she gets to play silly, respect family as "Ko Yu Chu", can bring a smile everyday to work "Always crying really makes yourself depression, do you know that filming a crying scene is injure/bad for your body! Every tears is really real tears, you have to make yourself sad first so that it will touch people. So when finished filming sad scenes, will need time to clear up the mood, but everytime I have no time to do this as it is hard. So when filming Daddy Good Deeds this sort of relaxing type, I can handle this and I feel relaxed to act, like if I was taking a break."

Don't want to use crybaby to view the viewers

Regarding to 'crybaby' image accepted by the public, Linda thinks that she is not'crybaby' type. "Actually which female role doesn't need to cry? I don't have to keep filming crying scenes, it's just because everyone focus on the crying area. I played Miss Koo who only cried in the last 3 scenes, but carry on crying will scare everyone to numbness, I don't want to use crybaby to view the viewers. It's like when I was small I liked to eat Big Mac, eating 6 a day would get bored, viewers will be the same. Hope the producers can try out to use different type of role, real me don't really like to cry! I'm also waiting for a chance to act evil, ugly or mental handicap role. I can picture myself already!

For Linda, the highest on record is in a year to film six drama's with long-term no rest. Body is beginning to send out signal, during the interview she also had a flu and high temperature which she had to lay-off two months of rest, to avoid suffer like Sammi Cheng and Maggie Cheung. "Apart from mind the body constitution is really poor, every month I catch a cold then eczema appaear that's when I know there's a signal. After I looked at Maggei Cheung and Sammi Cheng interview and thought these two had same symptom as me, then that's when I knew I had to take a break. Yes, in life there is many chances in front of you, but when you have not got a healthy body then it's useless."

Recently, Linda Chung went back to her hometown in Canada to reunite with her true Daddy Good Deeds -- father, mother, sister and brother. This time going back to Canada, Linda has set out on an important mission: "I want to find my Canadian scent again!"

Recall back when Linda first entered the industry, she spoke in a pure, innocent and simple manner. However, after several years [of being in HK], she can speak clearly without an accent, but that pureness vanished. As she claims: "I feel I speak in a rougher way and act more like a HK Girl!"

OMG! That serious? Fortunately, she realized it early and can still recharge back in Canada. She should be able to get back on track and turn things around.

5% a Hong Kong Girl

"I believe I've become a HK Girl", this comment came right out of Linda Chung's mouth. Indeed, that is surprising. Back then, all the Miss Chinese International are good looking and educated, but after several years, Michelle Yip and Bernice Liu are no longer like how they were in the past. The newer generation Leanne Li and Christine Kuo are still minor. To bear the big flag of these qualities, only Linda Chung is left. Today, even she claimed she has become a 'HK Girl'.

"In the past, I was extremely polite, and spoke softly. I would never say 'gor tiu yau' here 'gor tiu yau' there ('gor tiu yau' = that person). Nowadays when I do something wrong, I would say 'deng'. Some of my younger fans would shout: "Ah! Linda jeh jeh, you just said a bad word!" I thought to myself 'deng' is considered a bad word? Fans told me, when others say it, not considered a bad word, but when it comes out of Linda Chung's mouth, then yes it is definitely vulgar.

Why do I think I become more of a HK Girl, what does HK Girl mean? I know, those who have princess illness. They speak loudly and are rough, they have a self-centered personality. They would add leggings with their skirts for no apparent reason...Honestly, I just speak in a rougher way. I don't think I have princess illness, but some fans say I'm starting to have some traces of a HK Girl, about 5%!

I'm worried! It's not because HK Girl isn't good, but the area I attract audience is I have that 'scent' of being a girl who grew up overseas. I really want to keep this 'scent'. I want to be the simple, innocent and happy Linda Chung again. Of course, I know that is difficult, but I will try my best.

No matter what, my values deep down inside will not change. Coming back to develop in HK, I promised my parents before, that I must not become a materialistic girl. I cannot be selfish, otherwise they will do whatever they have to, to take me back to Canada. Watching others drive nice cars or carry brand name handbags, I would have a moment of envy too, but at most it would last for 10 seconds. I don't see what's so amazing if you carry a brand name handbag. Relax everyone, I'm just 5% HK Girl, shouldn't be too hard to turn around.

The Ox in New Territories

When Linda first debuted, her Cantonese did indeed need some improvement, but she can now speak the HK slang. Despite that, she is still far from being a HK Girl. Born in Vancouver, Linda grew up in a well-off family, and studied teaching at the University of British Columbia (UBC) for two years. Before age 19, her only extracurricular activity was just to accompany her mother every week for grocery shopping in Chinatown.

"After I became MCI, I gave myself 3 years and if I couldn't make any accomplishments, then I would 'pit' (like "peace" or "later"). At the time, I really was foolish, thinking that within 3 years I could become as famous as Charmaine Sheh or Myolie Wu, and my acting could be as good as King Sir (Chung King Fai). In this circle, it turns out you need at least 10 years before you start moving, and be qualified to even talk about acting skills. Over 10 years is considered stabled. I entered the industry when I was 19, and when I was 22, I actually thought about it. Should I stay or 'pit' (leave)? I finally decided to stay because I saw that there is hope in my future. Everyone thought I was well-behaved, but it was because I was timid and afraid of things. Basically, I didn't speak much, very afraid to talk to people. I relied on my parents, brother and sister on my everyday basic needs, I basically couldn't live on my own. Coming to HK, I lived alone and was homesick. Every time I thought of my parents, I would cry...when I first entered TVB, I did everything there is because I didn't have sense of security. I just had series after series, it felt like I had a lot of 'productions', and that made me feel a little better. When I was 22, I decided to stay in the industry because after 3 years of experience, I was able to take care of myself and I knew how to communicate with people. Finally, I became an useful person. When Heart of Greed came along, a lot of people liked 'Seung Joi Sum', and this role was also my source of encouragement. I saw my future slowly paving. If I go back to Canada, I could only be an elementary school teacher, definitely won't have much diversity.

Recently I have 'Miss Koo' from Yes Sir, Sorry Sir and 'Kwan Ka Lok' from L'Escargot. These are two rare opportunities, especially Miss Koo. Even before the 'extreme crying', audience already loved it. Netizens were giving me 'spam' on the comment sections. I don't dare to say that my acting is already really good, but at least I can say there is improvement. Perhaps my personality is like the Ox of the New Territories. I would just silently do things, the more I do, naturally things could easily be figured out. Currently, when I shoot tragic scenes, I don't need to think of my parents anymore, just have to 'push the button' and the tears just naturally flow.

Tears seem to have become Linda Chung's signature. Does everyone really not dislike it? Just as long as it doesn't become a dislike to people, then I am OK. What I fear most is when people think I'm pretending to be pitiful and want sympathy. There is no secret to crying, I don't care how crooked my mouth gets or how weird my eyes look, how will a person still look pretty when they are unhappy? I would just get into character as much as possible. Fortunately, my crying look isn't considered too ugly.

In fact, I have been pretty awake all along. A series becoming a popular hit doesn't mean that you are cool or amazing, it's best to be realistic and slowly develop, that is the long-term. There will never be a day of stability in the entertainment circle, but so far I am pretty satisfied with what I have. What I am most happy about is that I am having more and more self-confidence, no longer am I frightened over small or big things."

Linda didn't have much rumors. It was once rumored Raymond Lam was pursuing her, but after the Mavis Pan incident, we all know Prince Lam isn't Linda's cup of tea. In the television scene, the name Philip Ng also ties in with Linda's name. Earlier a photo of them in karaoke together was published on magazines, and it was rumored the two have been secretly together for several years. Linda is pure, but not stupid. There are certain things that she won't say, so she just won't say it.

"Many people say Kwan Ka Lok from L'Escargot is the 'World's Cheapest Girl', but I don't quite agree. She is wrong, wrong because she has no opinions of her own. In one instant she wants to, in the other she doesn't want to. However, don't have to be that extreme and call her the World's Cheapest Girl. When a girl encounters a wealthy and loving man, it is nothing strange for her to be interested. For me, I would have more opinion than Kwan Ka Lok, I would not touch a married man. A woman's reputation is very important.

Relationships, I have always kept it low. Although I work in the entertainment circle, it is just a job after all. I hope to retain my own personal privacy that belongs to me. On relationships, it is enough to just share with family and that person. If I have to explain to the world, then that is too pressuring.

I am good friends with Philip, and that time (at the karaoke) it was his birthday. Taking photos together is normal. You all shouldn't add oil, salt or salt water to it. Yes, please don't add salt and vinegar. I don't have many friends in the industry, just Leanne Li, Tavia Yeung and Philip are good friends that I can talk to. Currently I also have Steven Ma and Daddy Ha Yu too!

Becoming Popular

I will definitely get marry and have kids. My idol is Kelly Chen, I really envy her as a person, she is pretty, has a career and family. She has never had negative news, and her image is very healthy."

Back then when Linda was running for Miss Chinese International, Kelly Chen was one of the judges and once praised: "I really like Linda Chung, she has a very sweet smile." It was then she became a hot candidate. Bobby Au-Yeung was another candidate that gave her a perfect score, Linda said: "Bobby said he hasn't seen a dance that is so cute and healthy in a long time."

Linda turned 28 yesterday. A group of fans sent their well wishes through Linda’s fan blog. Steven Ma, Evergreen Mak, Jess Sum Cheuk Ying, and producer, Lau Kar-ho, also posted their well wishes. Linda replied in the blog, “Thank you all for your well wishes. This year’s birthday is especially sweet and satisfactory. Although I am one year older, I am grateful and satisfied for everything that God has planned all along for me. I have a very simple birthday wish, but it is very difficult to accomplish. It is good health and safe for my family and friends. Moreover, I wish them filled with positive energy in their daily lives. I will cherish today and everyday and wish everyone of you to do the same.”
On last Sunday, Linda’s elder sister and her husband arranged a surprised birthday party. Linda first thought it was just a simple dinner, but later discovered many of her old friends and classmates from Vancouver were present. Linda said, “I have left Vancouver for 8 years. Many things have changed, but I am happy that friendships and affections from family members have never changed. I will be cherish and grateful. I feel the presence of love. Thank you to my sister!.” Linda took this rare opportunity to spend her holidays in Vancouver, where she comfortably went cycling and enjoyed the rhythms of the ocean.

[09/04/2012] Linda Chung: Steven Ma Accompanied Me Through Stormy Weathers

In Virtues of Harmony 2, there were many good teachers teaching me how to act. I recall this one scene about (Michelle) Hung Bak Lam having a terminal disease so she thought of ways to make Ivan Sze Gee San (Steven Ma) leave her. When she went to the airport to send Ivan off, Steven told me to show my side profile first then slowly turn around toward him and cry, the outcome would be that much more effective. Even now I still continue using this crying method Steven taught me.

A Journey Called Life
During this period I was at low tide, also the period my homesickness was really intense. I am very grateful having Steven constantly encouraging me and putting up with me. In this series, I portrayed a wet miu. (party girl(?)) with lots of family problems. Also had a stillborn scene. The script closely relates to real life. Can be said among Steven and my collaborated works to be my most favorite and satisfied one.

A Watchdog’s Tale
This series let me see the other side of Steven. I did not expect that shod in flip-flops he could be so uncouth (ma lat) totally departed from his normal refined and polite image. And since this is a comedy, during the shooting my mood was not too heavy.

Ghost Writer
During VOH2's filming I was a rather cheerful woman, but during Ghost Writer's filming it can be said that I fell to the lowest pit. The years within the entertainment circle was like a rubber band tightening around me; it finally snapped during this period. I realized I was not suited for an entertainment lifestyle plus I didn’t have my family in Hong Kong. I was depressed. Plus I suffered constant insomnia. And had bad skin. I knew that Steven at seeing me thus was worried but did not know what to do so kept his silence, staying by my side quietly supporting me. Fortunately, now, on the whole, I have re-adapted to this lifestyle. I try to do more stuff that I enjoy. Also know how to better communicate with friends and to share my concerns, so can gradually cross over deep pits. During Daddy Good Deeds’ shooting, Steven finally saw that I had become more and more sanguine. I’m very grateful to this good brother of mine who has always stood by me and supported me.

Steven is my good brother, who has witnessed my up and down moods since I entered the industry. He has stayed by my side the whole time. Even though he has now left the company I still hope that Steven, who has not only accompanied me throughout my growth but is also a good partner who worked well with me, can return to my side to continue making more good series.

Steven Ma: Linda Chung is Like My Younger Sister.

Virtues of Harmony 2
This is Linda’s first series, I thought this woman was very pretty, and a bit shy, very well-behaved (guai) and ingenuous. During that time, I constantly had lunch with her to chitchat so that she would be more relax. I recall saying this to her: “This field is not all that complex. But opportunity always exists for one to turn bad. So in everything must put in efforts to learn from it. The most important thing is not to go down the wrong path. To this day, she still manages to do that, and is also still a good woman.(guai nui)

A Journey Called Life
She has matured, her acting skill has also improved, especially her emoting feelings has improved enormously. Our collaborations are mostly small productions, this series is no exception. The story content emulates real life's happenings. It talks about us being husband and wife. It was our second collaboration, but our relationship seems to have gone a notch up, more like brother and sister. To this day, she still calls me ‘gor gor’.

A Watchdog’s Tale
We officially filmed a comedy series, laughter was constant. Also, our characters underwent a big change. I was crude and slovenly, a total uncouth man (malat zai). While she had on this short hair wig to portray a tomboy. Totally a Wu Jun lookalike. Haha! This series increased our tacit understanding of each other. I recall during the shooting, I commented that no series could possibly pose a problem to us because we already knew each other’s strengths and weaknesses so could mutually compensate each other’s deficiency.

Ghost Writer
During this period Linda had serious insomnia, very edgy all the time, and her skin was bad too. Plus the character in the series endured many grievances so that affected her moods too. Could see that it was a tough period for her. I was concerned for her. At the time, I constantly urged her to take rests, to do exercise because besides relieving stress, it can also affect the spirit. After that, we filmed our own separate series, but we still kept in touch and I knew her situation underwent a positive turnaround. During Daddy Good Deeds, she seemed much more happier. At the last (DGD promo), she told me that she do aerobics once every week to keep fit. She seems to be in good spirits. I’m happy for her, and also feel more at ease (on lok) about her.

Steven Ma is a singer turned artist, who entered TVB 19 years ago. Eventually, Steven reached up top becoming one of the first line TVB Siu Sangs and has filmed countless series over the years, but didn't really have rumors. He has a deep relationship with the three FaDans Tavia Yeung, Fala Chen and Linda Chung. Due to having rich life experiences, Steven often coaches the three girls and unconsciously took on the role as their Big Brother.

Over the years that I've been with TVB, aside from my three god-sisters Tavia, Fala and Linda, many other artists including Kenneth Ma calls me 'Big Brother'. However, I get along most with Linda, Fala and Tavia, we have collaborated the most and have the most fate. When I first met Linda, it was in 2004 when she was shooting her first series, Virtues of Harmony, she played a couple with me. In 2007, Fala played my little sister in Steps and in 2009 Tavia collaborated with me in Sweetness in the Salt, where we played a couple and started getting more familiar.

A good Listener who can keep secrets

Although we never formally became god-siblings, we have a very good relationship. We often chat and I'm more than willing to help resolve any problems they might have. I admit that I am very good at keeping secrets. Whenever they have something to tell me, I will just sit back and listen. Even if I do give them advice, I would turn around and forget it. Once my little sisters finishes venting, then they'll be ok! And whenever there are things they want me to help deal with, I would really put out my heart to help them. I believe it is because of this that they were able to put down their guards towards me. Earlier on my birthday, my three sisters came to celebrate with me too!

A few days ago, TVB's Executive Chairman Norman Leung hosted a farewell party for the 'Golden Producers' Lau Kar Ho and Mui Siu Ching. The four fa-dans - Fala Chen, Linda Chung, Tavia Yeung and Kate Tsui were invited to this party.
